The Impediments are primarily an acoustic instrument based group, that places a   heavy emphasis on vocal harmony.  Their repertoire runs the gamut, from "unplugged" rock, to country, from blues, to bluegrass, covering such artists as The Counting Crows, Oasis, Lyle Lovett, Crowded House, New Grass Revival, and The Eagles. 

The group’s members have been individually involved in professional music for many years, playing across the country in various bands.  On their musical journey, members of The Impediments have shared the stage with the likes of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Le Roux, America, Bruce Hornsby, Dave Mason, The Marshall Tucker Band, Jerry Jeff Walker, Pure Prairie League, Jessie Colin Young,  Marsha Ball,  Michael Martin Murphy,
among others.
